| Printer, born in Gernsheim, WC Germany. He studied in Paris, then became an apprentice to Gutenberg. With his father-in-law, Johann Fust, he took over and ran the printing works. They completed the Gutenberg Bible (1456), and in 1457 issued the Mainz Psalter, the first work on which the name of the printer and date of publication appears. |
