| Short-story writer, born in Trenton, Tennessee, USA. Educated in Nashville, Memphis, and Kenyon College, OH, he wrote with sentiment and irony about the smaller crises and collisions of urban middle-class life in the southern states of America. Representative stories are ‘The Scoutmaster’, ‘The Old Forest’, and ‘The Death of a Kinsman’. The Collected Stories of Peter Taylor was published in 1969, and A Summons to Memphis in 1987. The Oracle at Stoneleigh Court appeared in 1993. |
