sex: male
lived: (16th-c.)

biography: Playwright and actor manager, born in Toledo, C Spain. He wrote c. 1580 Comedia muy exemplar de la marquesa de Saluzia, llamada Griselda based on Viñoles' translation (1510) of Foresti's Supplementum chronicorum orbis ab initio mundi. The play is turgid, poorly constructed, and overlong, but he was praised by Lope de Vega, who was acquainted with at least five other plays of his. Cervantes wrote that Navarro ‘inventó tramoyas, nubes, truenos y relámpagos, desafíos y batallas’ and there is another reference to his stagecraft in Rojas Villandrando's Viaje entretenido .
