| biography:
| A professional soldier and poet, born in Zaragoza, NEC Spain, the second son of the first Conde de Aranda. In 1516 he was appointed Ferdinand's ambassador in Rome. His Penitencia de amor (1514) was probably the first of the many imitations of La Celestina. His poetry, showing the influence of Petrarch, appeared in a Cancionero (Logroño, 1513; Zaragoza, 1878). He also wrote Peregrinación a Jerusalén, Roma y Santiago (1514). |
