| Lawyer and anthropologist, with an interest in economics and sociology, born in Barcelona, NE Spain. After completing his law studies at age 19, he began his professional work. He founded El Eco de la Producción, was secretary of the Fomento Nacional del Trabajo, and president of the Fomento de la Riqueza de Cataluña, and occupied various posts in the Ateneo de Barcelona and the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País, among others. The importance that Estasen accorded the conjunction of positivism and evolutionism is reflected in articles such as El positivismo y la teoría evolucionista, La teoría de la evolución y la ciencia social, and La creación según Haeckel. |
