| Psychiatrist, neurologist, and educator, born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA. He became psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital (1975) and director of the Blades Center for Clinical Practice and Research in Alcoholism (1992). An authority on biological bases of behaviour, his teaching and research have centred on biopsychology and the mind–brain problem. |
