| Physicist, born in Lille, N France. He studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, and from 1910 was professor of physical chemistry at the University of Paris. For his research in molecular physics and radioactivity, and for his discovery of the equilibrium of sedimentation, he was awarded the 1926 Nobel Prize for Physics. |
