| Yachtsman, born in Gentofte, Copenhagen. He is the only yachtsman to win four individual Olympic gold medals: in the Firefly class in 1948, and in the Finn class in 1952, 1956, and 1960. He was also the first to win the same event at four consecutive Olympics. He came fourth in the Tornado class at the 1984 Olympics, his seventh Games, with his daughter, Trine (1962– ). |
