| Philanthropist, born in Wellington, New Zealand. In 1939, after travelling widely among the Pacific Is and seeing the medical needs of the region, he founded the Lepers Trust Board. Thereafter, he devoted his life to gathering funds to assist the treatment of lepers and other sufferers from tropical diseases in the SW Pacific. This organization continues to function as the Pacific Leprosy Foundation. |
