| Painter, born in Pratovecchio, NC Italy. He trained under Ghiberti, worked in Venice as a mosaicist (1425–31), then settled in Florence. He applied the principles of perspective to his paintings, as seen in ‘The Flood’ (1447–8, Florence), where his use of perspective and foreshortening gives a sternly realistic effect. |
