| biography:
| Painter, sculptor, designer, dancer, and theorist, born in Stuttgart, SW Germany. He was on the faculty of the Bauhaus (1919–33), where he developed his notions of theatre as a mix of colour, light, form, space, and motion. Using puppet-like human figures as the centrepiece, he called his experimental productions ‘architectonic dances’. The best-known was ‘Triadic Ballet’ (three versions: 1911, 1916, 1922). |
