| Yankton Sioux painter, born in Joe Creek, South Dakota, USA. He served as art director at the Pierre Indian School (1953–7) in South Dakota, and as professor and artist-in-residence at the University of South Dakota (1957–81). His many exhibitions and illustrated books won numerous wards, and in 1960 he was named South Dakota Artist Laureate. |
