| Writer and journalist, born in Poggio nell'Elba, Tuscany, Italy. He wrote about life in a concentration camp in his first novel, Racconti d'inverno (1945), and went on to analyse modern neuroses in his later novels Per pura ingratitudine (1961), La terza persona (1965), I peggiori anni della nostra vita (1971), La nostra classe dirigente (1986), and essays Il comune spettatore (1979) and Amici, amici degli amici, maestri (1994). |
