| Soprano, born in Janotschin, C Poland. She studied at Berlin, where she made her debut in 1938, and sang in the Vienna State Opera (1944–8) and at Covent Garden (1949–52). She first specialized in coloratura roles, and later appeared more as a lyric soprano, especially in recitals of Lieder. |
