| Writer, born in Cognac, W France. He became Bishop of Angoulême (1494), and made his reputation as a poet, without publishing in his lifetime. He translated Virgil (L'Enéide) and Ovid (Héroïdes), and co-wrote a long allegorical poem on the temptations of youth, Le Séjour d'Honneur, published in 1519 and 1521. |
