| Swimmer born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. One of Australia's most successful swimmers, she holds a record 35 Australian titles. At the 1996 Olympic Games she won gold, silver, and bronze medals. At the Commonwealth Games in 1998 at Kuala Lumpur she won a record eight medals, including six gold. She won a gold medal in the 200 m butterfly at the 1998 World Championships. In the Pan Pacific Championships in 1999 she won six medals, including gold in the 200 m butterfly and the 200 m freestyle. At the Sydney Olympics in 2000 she broke Mary T Meagher's 19-year-old 200 m butterfly record with a time of 2:05·81. |
