| Writer and playwright, born in the Isle of Man, UK. He joined the drama department of the BBC, and progressed to writing the serial The Quatermass Experiment (1953), an imaginative science-fiction drama, reflecting the paranoia of the day. Its immense popularity led to sequels and feature films. He adapted other works for television including 1984, which caused questions about the BBC to be raised in parliament. His film scripts include The Abominable Snowman (1957), First Men in the Moon (1964), The Witches (1966), and Halloween III (1983). |
