| Jazz double-bass player, born in Osted, E Denmark. He has played with Oscar Peterson, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Drew, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and others, and has performed on several hundred recordings, including Jaywalkin, Trio I, and Trio II. In 1977 he was voted the ‘World's Best Bass Player’ by Melody Maker magazine. |
