| Dutch physician and scholar, born in The Hague, W Netherlands. He was doctor to Queen Christina of Sweden, and the Electors of Brandenburg and of Cleves. He was exiled from Holland for manslaughter in 1680. He was the natural son of the distinguished scholar Nicolaas Heinsius (1620–81) who translated Latin authors, worked for Christina of Sweden, and was appointed resident at the Swedish court. |
