| Baseball player, born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, USA. During his 21-year career as a second baseman (1896–1916), mostly with the Cleveland Indians, he posted a lifetime batting average of ·339. In 1901 he batted ·422, the highest ever in a season in the American League. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1937. |
