| biography:
| Poet, born in Catalonia, NE Spain. He became a priest with a vast popular following. He wrote L'Atlántida and Lo canigó, two epic poems of great beauty, and on the first of these Manuel de Falla based his choral work Atlántida. His ‘Idilis y cants místichs’ (1870), also set to music, have become part of the music of the Catalan church. |
