| Islamic philosopher, known as the ‘second master’ (Aristotle being the first), born in Farab, Turkmenia. He studied in Baghdad, and travelled widely. He was much influenced by Plato's Republic, and can be regarded as the first Islamic Neoplatonist. He also published a utopian political philosophy of his own, known under the title The Perfect City. |
