| Rower, who began his Olympic career in 1936 when he took his place in the Australian Police rowing eight team that represented Australia. He competed in four Olympic Games to 1956. In 1948 he won the Olympic single sculls and the Diamond Sculls at Henley, winning at Henley again in 1952. At the Empire Games he won four gold medals: single sculls (1950), double sculls with Murray Riley (1950, 1954), and the coxed fours in 1954. He won a silver medal in the double sculls with Stuart Mackenzie at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He was Australian single sculls champion (1946–52). |
