| Restaurateur, born in San Marzano Oliveto, Italy. He was a writer in London and (after 1907) in New York City. He opened a restaurant in New York's theatre district (1921), and Sardi's became a city landmark, home to an extended family of theatre people and a favourite celebrity-watching spot for others. He retired in 1947. |
