| Writer, born in Bayreuth, SEC Germany. He worked as a miner before becoming a full-time writer in 1963. He was a co-founder of the group Gruppe 61 in Dortmund and was instrumental in reviving the literary theme of capitalism's exploitation of the workers. His socially critical novels are set against a coal-mining background and include Männer in zweifacher Nacht (1962) and Irrlicht und Feuer (1963). He has also written radio and television plays and books for older children. |
