| Rabbi, born in Prague, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He went to the USA in 1879, and was appointed rabbi of Temple Sinai in New Orleans (1887–1927). A leader in Reform Judaism and an early Zionist, he was professor of Hebrew language and literature at Tulane University (1912–28). |
