| Composer, born in Budapest, Hungary. He studied at Budapest under Kodály, became professor of jazz (1928–33) at Frankfurt, and in 1935 settled in Britain as a teacher. He gained only belated recognition as a composer, his works including chamber music, piano pieces, and songs. He was killed in a motor accident in South Africa. |
