| Rower, born in Dorset, S England, UK. He studied at Eton and Oxford, where he was a member of the University Boat Race team. He made his rowing debut at senior international level in 1989, and in 1990 teamed up with Steve Redgrave for the coxless pairs. His many honours include eight gold medals in the World Championship Coxless Pairs (1991, 1993–5, 1997–9, 2002) and Olympic gold Coxless Pairs (1992, 1996) and Coxless Fours (2000). He became a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2002. |
