| Physicist, born in Toyohashi, C Honshu, Japan. He studied at the University of Rochester (1955 PhD), later joining the International Center for Elementary Particle Physics in Tokyo. He shared the 2002 Nobel Prize for Physics for his pioneering contributions to astrophysics, in particular for the detection of cosmic neutrinos. |
