| Duchess of Burgundy from 1477, the daughter of Charles the Bold. She married Maximilian I Habsburg of Austria in 1477. Her father's defeat by France in 1477 had lost much territory and encouraged the Flemish towns to revolt, after which the States-General meeting in Ghent forced her to grant the ‘Great Privilege’. She died from a fall from her horse while hunting. |
