| Labour reformer and suffragist, born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Privately educated, she devoted her life to improving working conditions for women. She served as president of the New York Women's Trade Union League (WTUL) (1906–14) and worked for National WTUL until its demise (1950). A vigorous political activist, she campaigned for suffrage, the Progressive Party, world peace, and nuclear disarmament. |
