| Composer, born in London, UK. He studied under Charles Stanford at the Royal College of Music, composed the ballad opera, Mr Pepys (1926), with Clifford Bax, and set T S Eliot's poems to music. He is best known for his songs, and as co-editor of national songbooks with his brother, Geoffrey Turton (1879–1943). He also co-edited Songs of Praise and The Oxford Carol Book with Vaughan Williams. |
