| Literary scholar, whose extensive private library is now incorporated in that of the Hispanic Society of America and listed in an important catalogue (20 vols, New York, 1910). With José Sancho Rayón he published the Colección de libros españoles raros o curiosos (24 vols, 1871–96), including the Cancionero de Stúñiga (1872) which was previously known only in the manuscripts of the Biblioteca Nacional, Madrid, and the Biblioteche Marziana and Casanatense in Italy. |
