| Television reporter and producer, born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. After working with Mike Wallace on Night Beat (1956–8), she became WNEW public affairs director (1962–4) in New York. At ABC (1964–78) she became the first woman to co-present the news. She also produced documentaries (1972–8) and became vice-president for news in 1977. A CBS Reports producer (1978–87), she wrote Waiting for Primetime (1988), and in 1991 she began hosting Profiles in Progress for the Discovery Channel. |
