| biography:
| Sports agent, promoter, and lawyer, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He studied at Princeton and Yale, and was called to the bar in 1957. A keen golfer, he offered to arrange exhibitions for Arnold Palmer, and founded the International Management Group (IMG) in 1962. His agency quickly grew into the largest company of its kind, handling the sponsorship deals and promotion of numerous sports stars and other personalities. IMG was used by the Catholic Church in Britain to market the pope's visit in 1982, and it handles almost all aspects of the Wimbledon championships. |
