| Italian politician, born in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy, the son of Antonio Segni. He was a Christian Democrat deputy from 1976. He promoted a number of highly successful referenda (1991, 1993) to implement electoral reform. He left the DC (Democrazia Cristiana) in 1993 and formed the Partito per la Rinascita dell'Italia (Party for the Rebirth of Italy), the so-called Patto Segni (Segni Pact). |
