| biography:
| Sculptor and painter, born in Pistoia, NC Italy. He studied in Florence, and taught at the Scuola d'Arte di Villa Reale, Monza (1929–40), before moving to Milan, where he was professor at Brera Academy (1940–70). His work, mainly in bronze, was figurative, his best-known theme being the horse and rider. He liked to combine different techniques, including colour, as in ‘Dancer’ (1949–54). He also executed portraits of Stravinsky, Chagall, Henry Miller, and others. |
