| Novelist, born in Koog aan de Zaan, W Netherlands. Before engaging full-time as a writer in 1985, she worked as a clinical psychologist. Her first novel, Tranen van niemand (1964, Nobody's Tears), remained unnoticed, whereas its successor eighteen years later, Van geluk gesproken (1982, Talking of Luck) was successful and made into a film. In her work she describes the academic environment with composed irony and sarcasm. |
