| Civil engineer, born in Objat, SC France. He studied at the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. He developed pre-stressed concrete, and from 1930 was one of the leading exponents of this virtually new structural material, employing it to full advantage in bridges, foundations, a dam in Algeria, the airport runway at Orly, and a water tower at Orléans. |
