| biography:
| Writer, born in Herzberg-Saxony, C Germany, into an officer's family of Huguenot descent. Her work is characterized by the religious feeling and sense of duty that marked her long years of caring for her sick parents. She wrote historical novels, such as Die letzte Reckenburgerin (1871), which combine clearly observed characterization with a sympathetic depiction of human suffering. Her correspondence with Meyer and Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach has also been published. |
