| Chronicler, born in Ireland. Banished from Ireland for breaking monastic rules, he entered a Benedictine monastery at Cologne (1052–8), was ordained priest in 1059, and became a recluse at Fulda and at Mainz. He wrote Chronicon Universale, the story of the world from the Creation to 1082. |
