| biography:
| Antiquarian, born in Medina Sidonia, Cádiz., SW Spain. He wrote as Dr Thebussem;, the ‘doctor’ refering to a degree in civil and canon law. He corresponded with many writers of the time, and the Epistolario del Dr Thebussen [sic] y Rodríguez Marín (1883-1917) con breves notas de éste último (1942) sheds considerable light on the period. Essays and books flowed from his pen, on cookery La mesa moderna, (1883), philately, heraldry, genealogy, and philology. The Segunda ración de artículos (1894) was one of five such miscellanea, occasionally musty in its style and bookishness, but never less than good-humoured and often illuminating. |
