| biography:
| Queen of Denmark, born in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of Frederick IX, whom she succeeded in 1972. She studied at Copenhagen, Aarhus, Cambridge, Paris, and London, and qualified as an archaeologist. In 1967 she married a French diplomat, comte Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, now Prince Henrik of Denmark. Their children are the heir apparent, Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian (1968– ), and Prince Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian (1969– ). She is one of Denmark's most popular monarchs. Her people can arrange to meet her to discuss an issue in the same way that a British MP holds a ‘surgery’ for constituents. |
