| Tennis player, born in Albury, New South Wales, SE Australia. She was the winner of more Grand Slam events (66) than any other player: 10 Wimbledon (including the singles in 1963, 1965, 1970), 22 US, 13 French, and 21 Australian titles. In 1970 she became the second woman (after Maureen Connolly) to win all four major titles in one year. She retired in 1977. |
