| Labour activist, born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The daughter of successful immigrants, she was president of the Women's Trade Union League during its formative years (1907–22), effectively organizing working women, training them for leadership in unions, and winning protective legislation. She and her husband moved to Florida (1925) where she supported charitable activities and progressive politics. |
