| biography:
| Composer, born in Adelaide, South Australia. She studied at the Melbourne Conservatory, and in Vienna and London, returning to Australia in 1925, where for many years she was active in music administration and promotional work. Recognition came late, but her violin concerto (1954) was warmly received, and her opera, The Young Kabbarli, based on the life of Daisy Bates, was performed in 1965. She has written much chamber music and a number of song cycles, including one by Australian poet Judith Wright. |
