| biography:
| Artist, born in Falenty, near Warsaw, Poland. She studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (1950–5), and sought to escape from conventional art forms through weaving. In the 1960s she achieved international recognition with her monumental abstract woven fibre installations called ‘Abakans’. After 1965 she taught at the State College of Arts, Poznan, becoming professor in 1979. |
