| Painter, born in New York City, USA. He worked as a political cartoonist, then devoted himself to painting (1907). After World War 1 he taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau, and adopted a style reminiscent of Cubism. After the Nazi rise, he returned to the USA, where he helped to found the New Bauhaus in Chicago. |
