| Writer, born in Malo, Veneto, NE Italy. He obtained great success with the novel set in his home town, Libera nos a Malo (1963). Among his other novels are I piccoli maestri (1964) on the resistance, Pomo pero (1974), Fiori italiani (1976) on the Italian road to education, Bau-sète (1988), and Il dispatrio (1993). His work evokes, rather than reproduces, his local dialect, ironically suggesting the concealments of official Italian. |
