| Italian general, born in Intra, Piedmont, N Italy. He took part in the Libyan campaign and was a commander in World War 1. He was responsible for the conquest of Gorizia (1916) and Bainsizza plateau (1917), but was dismissed after the Caporetto defeat in 1917. Although sympathetic to Fascism at first, he was later involved in Tito Zaniboni's attempt on Mussolini's life in 1925. |
